Gran Fondo is the cycling equivalent of the London Marathon, with elite athletes starting in the Gran Fondo Race at the front, followed by the Gran Fondo Sportive.
Held on fully closed roads, the ToC Gran Fondo is the only authentic continental style mass participation race and ride on English shores. Whether you want to race or to be part of UK cycling history by having a leisurely ride on closed roads, you can participate and feel the experience of a pro rider. Not only that, but the ToC Gran Fondo also UK’s qualifier event for the UCI GF World Championships. Finish in the top 25% of your Masters Age Group and qualify to represent your country in the UCI GF World Championships, which are being held in Varese, Italy in 2018.
The Gran Fondo is split into Race and Sportive. All riders starting in the Race Gate require a full Race license and start within their relevant age group pen. The Sportive Gate is split into self-selecting average speed pens, allowing riders to ride the route with others similar to their own ability.
With over maximum field of 10,000 riders starting, we have riders from all over the world who travel to compete for the rainbow jersey.
Race like a professional around the traffic-free roads of Cambridgeshire, with spectators lined up around the route, a highly produced start and finish, followed by a spectacular podium ceremony.
