Every child/young person we support has experienced the death of a special person and is struggling to cope, with over 50% grieving the death of parent(s)/carers. Many of our children say they cannot engage with others, that they feel different, isolated from community: “I find it hard to talk to others, they don’t understand me”, “I feel like people are staring at me, just waiting for me to burst into tears AGAIN”. And 83% of our young people reported that things felt too much to manage. Through age-appropriate bereavement support groups, guidance and advice for parents/carers and professionals training, we place the child at the heart of our work. Helping to build and enhance support networks, improve relationships within families and increase the emotional intelligence, resilience, and coping strategies for children & young people. Wiltshire Treehouse provides the skills required to cope for a life with grief.
