Founded in 1916 by theatre impresario and philanthropist Sir Oswald Stoll, The Stoll Foundation sought to support disabled veterans returning from the First World War, who struggled to find accessible housing, employment and support services despite the enormous sacrifices they had made for their country.
Since then, the charity has evolved to meet the changing needs of veterans from a range of conflicts, but Sir Oswald's mission has always remained at the forefront of its work. Today the charity houses over 300 veterans, war widows and military families across its schemes in Fulham, Chiswick, Feltham, East Acton and Aldershot. In addition, hundreds of veterans have been housed through the Veterans' Nomination Scheme which matches vulnerable veterans seeking housing to available properties across the country.
Support services offered to residents include an Independent Living Service supporting elderly and disabled residents to live full and independent lives, tailored support plans which provide advice on everything from employment to debt management, as well as a range of social, physical and creative activities based at its properties and in the wider community.
