The Hope Foundation for Street Children (HOPE UK)

The Hope Foundation (HOPE) is a registered charity dedicated to restoring the basic human rights of street-connected children and slum-dwelling communities in Kolkata, India. Since 1999, HOPE has become one of the most recognised and respected NGOs in West Bengal.

HOPE currently implements 58 programmes across key sectors, including child protection, education, healthcare, vocational training, capacity building, and emergency response. With a dedicated team of over 550 local staff, HOPE delivers sustainable, life-changing support to some of the most vulnerable children and communities in the world.

Each year, thousands of children living in street and slum conditions are empowered through HOPE’s work—gaining access to essential services, developing critical life skills, and building the confidence needed to realise their full potential. To date, HOPE has positively impacted over 3 million lives, including providing education to more than 97,000 marginalised children.

In 2007, HOPE established its UK branch, The Hope Foundation for Street Children, to raise awareness and secure funding for its work in India. Together with HOPE organisations in Ireland, the USA, Germany, and Kolkata, we are united by a shared vision: “a world where it should never hurt to be a child.”
