Stick 'n' Step

Stick 'n' Step is a UK-based charity that empowers children and young people with cerebral palsy through free, weekly Conductive Education (CE) sessions. Founded in 2002 by parents seeking better support for their children, the charity now works with over 100 families across North West England and North Wales. Its programmes are tailored to each child’s personal goals, helping them develop physical, social, and emotional skills that promote independence and confidence.

The charity operates from two centres—one in Wallasey and one in Runcorn—and delivers around 22 group sessions per week. Children attending Stick 'n' Step report increased confidence, improved mobility, and reduced pain, with many describing the experience as life-changing. A 2014 evaluation found that for every £1 invested, the charity generated £4.89 in social value, highlighting its significant impact on wellbeing and community inclusion.

Stick 'n' Step also offers early intervention programmes for babies from six months old, and relies on fundraising, sponsorships, and volunteers to sustain its services. All proceeds from events and donations go directly toward supporting children with cerebral palsy and their families.
