The Magic Future Foundation is building 100 schools across the world's economically poorest countries, in partnership with leading international NGO buildOn.
This mission was launched in honour of Oliver Wissenbach, who passed away suddenly in 2019 at the age of 25. He was an educator, and following his passing, his family discovered a collection of thoughtful anonymous writings under the pseudonym Sam Leaper – reflections on compassion, purpose and leaving the world better than he found it. These writings and conversations Oliver had with his father inspired them to begin the project - and there derived their purpose of ""world better because"".
To date, 30 schools have been funded, with 27 completed and three under construction, bringing education to over 10,000 children.
Their latest campaign - ""30 in 30"" - - was set up in what would've been Oli's 30th birth-year and invites individuals, families, and organisations to each fund one school (£35,000). Teams of up to 15 people can join, with the opportunity to take part in a buildOn Trek and help build the school alongside the local community. All teams must sign up by August 2025 — the date that would have marked Oliver’s 31st birthday.
