FareShare Greater Manchester has been feeding hungry people across Greater Manchester since 2008. Now supporting 280 partner charities annually, FareShare Greater Manchester redistributed 1,970 tonnes of good food to nearly 50,000 people in 2022. With the ongoing cost-of-living crisis we are seeing more families than ever in food poverty with as many as 43% of Mancunian households facing food insecurity. FareShare Greater Manchester are working every day to ensure that healthy food is accessible to all in Greater Manchester – this is increasingly difficult as food prices soar and more families find themselves choosing between heating or eating – or more frequently being unable to afford either, while perfectly edible food becomes waste due to inefficiencies in the food system. It is unforgivable that food is rotting in fields and warehouses while children are hungry, and FareShare Greater Manchester is committed to ensuring that good food is redistributed to food aid providers who can support their communities with projects that enable families to access nutritious food.
