Papyrus Prevention of Young Suicide

"PAPYRUS is the only national charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide. We exist to reduce the number of young people who take their own lives by equipping both them and their communities with the skills to recognise and respond to suicidal behaviour, to prevent, to intervene, and to encourage self-care.

Through our helpline, HOPELINEUK we provide confidential support and advice to young people and to anyone worried about a young person by telephone, text and email. In addition we offer a range of suicide prevention training and advice to professionals to equip young people, their families and those that care for them with right tools to keep them safe.

PAPYRUS is also a campaign organisation which comes from our passion as individuals, parents, families and communities who have been touched personally by young suicide. We press for change in many places using hard-hitting and dynamic campaigns as well as presenting evidence to those in power so that lessons can be learned and learning implemented to help save young lives.
Papyrus was founded twenty years ago in the North West, by a group of bereaved parents who felt strongly that other families should not go through what they experienced and they started offering support to other families in their area. Our strength, drive and passion is rooted in the personal experience of our founders and present day trustees, as well as by the feedback we get from our training and awareness raising sessions, and the calls texts and emails received every day to HOPELINEUK
